Portable Hand Lamp Now Available in Energy Efficient LED Options

W276 LED
Jun 10, 2013

Cooper CEAG, a division of diversified power management company Eaton, has updated its highly robust W270 and W276 hand lamps with light-emitting diode (LED) technology. In addition, existing W270 and W276 incandescent hand lamps can now also be retrofitted to take advantage of the energy-efficient LED technology. The addition of LEDs to the products is designed to reduce cost by lowering maintenance effort and extending product life.

“High quality LED products represent a great opportunity for end users to increase efficiency and reduce operating costs,” said Kai Hendrik Sabla, Product Manager, CEAG Notlichtsysteme GmbH. “This is because the benefits of LED technology included in our series of hand lamps allows for longer life and reduced maintenance while still providing safe illumination.”

Utilizing LED technology, all W270 and W276 hand lamps can enjoy more than six times the light quantity compared with the incandescent lamp version. Specifically, that means at a distance of 50 metres, a luminance level of 1.5 lux is achieved over an area of more than 90 square metres. An additional benefit of LED technology includes extended product life of up to 50,000 hours, or more than five and a half years. This allows for a severe decrease in relamping and greatly reduces maintenance costs. The low energy consumption of 1.5, 3.0 or 4.5 watts is also evident in the battery operation duration of up to 27.5 hours, depending on battery type and operating mode.

For those utilizing existing W270 or W276 incandescent lamps, upgrading to LED technology can be accomplishedwith just a few twists of the wrist, and existing accessories including charging devices can still be used. Upgrading to LED technology pays for itself at the latest by the next incandescent lamp change, and the reason for this is that the 50,000 hour operating duration of the LEDs is many times longer than incandescent lamps.

The hand lamp is available in two variants with the W276.3 LED model offering a charger as part of the luminaire allowing the battery compartment sufficient space to store the spiral cable with Euro plug. This allows for the hand lamp to be charged flexibly at various locations. The W270.3 LED version is supplied with an external charger that reduces weight for those needing the product on the go.

In addition to LED technology, all hand lamps also include an emergency light function. This means that if the charging cable is connected, voltage at the socket is monitored and will automatically switch to battery mode to coincide with mains failure. Emergency light duration is available for up to nine hours in Eco primary light operating mode.

All hand lamps feature three operating modes: primary, ancillary and flashing light and include and IP54 protection rating. This makes them ideal for areas where dust and spray water are an outside factor and at locations with high levels of dirt. The housing of impact-resistant, non-abrasive plastic also ensures outstanding durability.
