Eaton Introduces Energy Efficient LED Options on Style Emergency Lighting Range

The new Style 22011 LED safety and exit sign luminaire consume 48 percent less power compared to fluorescent tube luminaires.
Apr 16, 2014

Power management company Eaton has upgraded the CEAG Style range of luminaires with light-emitting diode (LED) technology. Furthermore, existing Style luminaires can now also be retrofitted to take advantage of the energy-efficient LED technology. The addition of LEDs provides reduced operating costs by lowering maintenance effort and extending the life of the product.

“Reducing energy costs through increased efficiency is a critical concept for modern businesses. Meeting this requirement has been at the centre of our development of high quality LED products,” said Kai Hendrik Sabla, product manager, Eaton’s CEAG business. “The Style LED series provides the benefits of LED technology, allowing for longer life and reduced maintenance while still providing safe illumination of both exit signs and escape routes.”

While complying with the requirements of DIN 4844, both single-sided and double-sided Style exit sign luminaires utilise LED technology to deliver lower power consumption and thus lower energy costs. Single-sided Style LED luminaires consume 48 percent less power compared to fluorescent tube luminaires.

In terms of light distribution, the new Style LED escape luminaires are just as impressive as their fluorescent predecessors. The optical components are designed so that the same values as the previous fluorescent luminaires are achieved with existing light point distances. This guarantees standard-compliant illumination for the future as well, and replanning is not required.

An additional benefit of LED technology includes an extended product life of up to 50,000 hours. This allows for a significant decrease in re-lamping and greatly reduces maintenance costs. It is now no longer necessary to replace the lamps up to once yearly. This is especially advantageous with luminaires that are difficult to get to, or even when production has to be halted in an industrial environment to access escape luminaires on the hall ceiling. This means that upgrading to efficient LED technology has the potential to become profitable immediately.

For those utilizing existing Style luminaires with fluorescent lamps, upgrading to LED technology can be accomplished with just a few simple steps to install the LED-set in the same modular luminaire housings, allowing a cost-effective and simple method of updating Style luminaires.

The modular constructed Style luminaires and fixing elements offer the possibility of individual mounting. Nearly all accessories can be combined. This means a maximum of flexibility because all luminaires have a standard, identical quick-mounting set. All Style luminaires have an optional cover to achieve ingress protection rating IP54 for electronic and lamp. This makes the luminaires ideal for areas where dust and spray water are an outside factor. The housing of impact-resistant, non-abrasive plastic also ensures outstanding durability.
